I started writing this story when I was thinking about how horrible it would be to lose a sister. I don’t have any siblings, but I do know what it’s like to actually lose someone. It really sucks, and really hurts. So I started writing this story when I thought about how amazing it would be to keep something after a sister — or sibling in general — died, and I came up with the idea of Brooke’s sister committing suicide and leaving behind a series of tapes explaining why she did what she did.
